HP Slate 7 Reviews|Emmanuel Odenyire

The HP Slate 7 has finally arrived in Kenya’s stalls at a very cheap price worthy Kshs.17,000 and is very available at the PC World in Westlands. It is a surprisingly speedy tablet with a low price tag. With its amazing features,  it competes with tablets like the Google Nexus 7 with a far much better display, faster performance, and more updated software.

Some still complain about the device on some features claimed by HP but on my side, I stand to be corrected that the device is fine at that fair price. The weaknesses of this gadget are outdone by the strengths and really this gadget serve its purposes to its best.

At a snapshot, check out its specific features here down and see for yourself.

Remember the HP Slate 7 isn’t intended to be a high end device but targets those who want a simple tablet and consider budgetary issues.

How far is S3 from S4? Compare|Emmanuel Odenyire

A question still remains to those people with Galaxy S3 whether to neglect their gadgets and go for Galaxy S4.Is this really demanding as far as the Galaxy S4 features is concerned? This is the question which is still not answered.

Let us keenly compare the two and see.

Their sizes:

The below picture shows the sizes of the two models. S4’s physical design is hardly a radical departure from the S3 physique. Galaxy S4 has the exact script of the S3 model.

S4 is somehow than the S3 model and this is by around eight percent (0.7 mm).
Their weights:

No big difference in the weights of the two but the S4 model is 3 g lighter than S3.
Display (Screen sizes):

The S4 model has a much bigger display area with a large screen of 1080p.
Processing powers:

S3 has a dual core processor and the S4 has a quad core processor.

The North American version of the Galaxy S3 matches the Galaxy S4’s 2 GB of random-access memory (RAM).

Both phones ship in three different storage models: 16 GB, 32 GB, and 64 GB. You can also add more to either phone with a microSD card (up to 64 GB).
Wireless capabilities:

Depending on where you live, you’ll get a model (of either handset) that will max out on LTE (faster) or HSPA+ (fast, but not as fast) speeds.

The Galaxy S4’s battery holds a bit more juice. Many other factors determine actual battery life, though, and the Galaxy S4’s battery powers a display with over a million extra pixels. We’ll have to wait for hands-on time to see how long the S4’s battery holds up.

The Galaxy S4’s camera gets a big upgrade, jumping to 13-megapixels. In its keynote, though, Samsung heavily emphasized its camera’s software-based features:

These include Dual Camera, which combines video or images from the front and back cameras; Drama Shot, a burst mode that merges multiple shots into a collage; and Sound & Shot, which records audio clips along with your still shots.

Conclusions and my take:

Galaxy S4 is not an major upgrade of S3.Galaxy S3 remains to be a major and a good Samsung smartphone.Don’t waste your money thinking now that Galaxy S4 has been availed that you are on other people’s back.Enjoy the gadget and use it without any worries.

Safaricom Yolo

Safaricom YOLO runs on a new Android 4.0 operating system dubbed Ice cream Sandwich by Google. Powering the phone is an Intel Atom Z2420 processor with a clock speed of 1.2 gigahertz. The Intel Atom Z2420 processor supports a variety of multimedia features such as multi-camera support and 1080p full HD video decoding and again have a  decent gaming performance with an integrated graphics processing unit.

The phone has a 3.5 inch display with the rather low resolution of 320×480 pixels .

Tthe phone has a mmemory of 512 MB of RAM, the minimum required to run Ice Cream Sandwich. An internal storage of 4GB is also available and is expandable by upto 32 GB thanks to the micro-SD card slot. But the available internal memory is about 1.67 GB.

On the rear of the YOLO phone lies a 5 megapixel camera. Immediately noticable is the lack of an LED flash for low-light situations but that is sort of made up for by the ability to shoot 1080p video, a feature rarely seen even in mid-range Android smartphones. The camera also supports burst shooting enabling the user to take upto 7 still photos in almost an instant.

As for connectivity, the phone features the standard options with 3G HSPA+ speeds of upto 21 Mbps and a global roaming option, Bluetooth 2.0 , a 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi receiver, a HTML5 enabled browser and call and messaging capability.

Providing power is a 1500mAh Lithium-Ion battery guaranteed to last a day with moderate usage. The whole phone is enclosed in an unattractive fully plastic body but that is expected for a budget smartphone.

Below is the summary of the Yolo’s specifications:

  • Dimensions: 110.5 x 61 x 12.60mm
